Among the thousands of players in the NBA’s illustrious 75-year history, very few have left an ever-lasting mark on the league and its fans. Rightfully so, these generational players have found their way to Springfield, Massachusetts, into the Basketball Hall of Fame. Likewise, Dennis Rodman, staying true to his over-the-top ways of life, decided to spend a fortune to arrive at the iconic ceremony.

However, Rodman, not particularly known for his financial prudence, came under major stress within a year of his eventful induction. Soon enough, the former Defensive Player of the Year saw his wealth erode despite a stellar career.

Getting into the Basketball Hall of Fame is indeed one of the most significant career achievements in the NBA. Over the years, the induction ceremonies of All-time players have produced some of the most memorable moments. Though the environment is mainly humbling and highly emotional in most cases, Rodman wanted to flip the script with his touch.

According to a report by Complex, the Worm, who earned millions of dollars during his stellar career, decided to splurge some cash on a grand entry. Incidentally, the Chicago Bulls legend had initially planned on sporting a colorful float for the event. But those plans had to be cancelled. Consequently, the 7x Rebounding champion decided to spend $60,000 on a helicopter. Moreover, he also planned to bring his friends Penny Marshall and Howard Stern along for the ride. To top it all, he also hired some acrobats and brought along his most bizarre outfits.

All in all, though he tried to mask his high-running emotions through flamboyant acts, Rodman finally broke down when giving his enshrinement speech. Needless to say, Rodman’s eventful induction to the Hall of Fame made a major dent in his pocket. However, things deteriorated a year later when he was ordered to pay half a million in child support.

Dennis Rodman was forced to pay a fortune in child support

Rodman, who had many partners during his playing days, decided to settle down in Orange County with Michelle Moyer in 2003. Moreover, they also had two children together, Trinity Rodman and DJ Rodman. But after a tumultuous marriage, Michelle filed for divorce in 2004 which got finalized in 2012.

However, during that span, Rodman, who was obligated to pay Michelle in child support, missed out on several such payments, allegedly amounting to an estimated figure of $850k. However, after their divorce went through, Rodman was brought into the court for contempt and ordered to pay his dues. After deliberation, the two sides agreed on the figure of $500k.
