Dennis Rodman is not only one of the greatest players of all time, but he is also one of the most controversial. Rodman’s career was filled with controversial moments, and he did not hesitate to call anyone out. And this time he has called out a legendary head coach.
Rodman has slammed the San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich. Rodman was a former player of Pop, and it is clearly documented that they did not get along. Pop, in fact, traded him after Rodman confronted him and his teammates. Rodman called out Pop in his book Bad as ‘I Wanna Be’ and he did not mince his words.

Dennis Rodman called Gregg Popovich the biggest problem
In his book, Rodman addressed his time with the Spurs. He says, “The biggest problem in San Antonio was Gregg Popovich, the general manager. He stood around and held Bob Hill’s (then the coach of the Spurs) hand every day, saying, “Okay, you’ve got to do this now. It’s time for you to listen to me.”

He adds, “Mr. Military was going to make me a good little boy, a good soldier. He lost sight of everything else, and then when he decided he couldn’t do anything with me, he badmouthed me and gave me away for next to nothing. Then he pretended it was good for the team”.

Rodman infamously refused to double Hakeem Olajuwon and he let David Robinson be crushed by the Rockets legend. And Pop did not like that one bit. And despite all his off-court issues, Rodman made a huge impact and produced some of his best rebounding numbers.

Pop, who was the general manager at that time, decided it was best for them to move on from Rodman. Rodman was then traded to the Chicago Bulls, and the rest is history. He would go on to win another three championships with the Bulls. Gregg Popovich would go on to name himself as the head coach and he would lead the Spurs to five titles and would go on to become the most successful coach in NBA history.
