In a report on Sports Illustrated back in 1997, it was revealed that Dennis Rodman was in debt for around $1 Million while at the Spurs. His condition was so poor as an NBA player that according to his then-lawyer ?nobody wanted to touch him?. Even with the endorsements, he didn?t earn more than $100,000 a year. It doesn?t sound like a small amount, but for a two-time NBA Champion at his prime, it was.
The report suggested that Dwight Manley, the-then agent of Rodman, changed his life after he got traded to the Bulls. The pink-haired defender who nobody wanted a part of, sold 800,000 copies of his autobiography Bad As I Wanna Be.
The legend?s fortune changed as he began to appear in movies, and in fast-food restaurant ads. All of that combined to a $9 Million income in 1996, which wasn?t from basketball.
Added to that the insanely successful stint that he had at the Chicago Bulls changed many lives. He went from having two rings to showing off five championship rings. Naturally, etching his name in basketball history.
