NBA legends Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen are one of the best duos ever. “Whenever they speak Michael Jordan, they should speak Scottie Pippen,” said Jordan in his famed documentary series ESPN’s The Last Dance, which aired at the height of a global pandemic. The documentary, which focused on the Bulls dynasty in the 90s, was well-received by the masses. However, among the minority that had gripes with the ten-part series was the six-time NBA champion teammate of Jordan.
Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen were partners in crime for over a decade in Chicago. Despite winning all those championships together on the court, the two didn’t have the best off-court relationship.

However, whatever little was left of their relationship went downhill after the release of Jordan’s documentary. Amidst all the drama and controversy, Pippen found the support of another Hall of Fame teammate.
Dennis Rodman showed major support to Scottie Pippen
Scottie Pippen vehemently disapproved of the documentary’s portrayal of him and his teammates. Pippen took numerous jabs at Jordan after the airing. Moreover, he embarked on a journey to unveil the ‘truth’ as he called it.
However, amidst all the chaos, Pippen’s teammate, Dennis Rodman, came to his defense in an interview with ESPN. Rodman had some bold yet uplifting words for his teammate. He summed up Pippen’s career in a crude way, “but no one could ever quite see him. He was too quiet, and he was always standing next to Michael Jordan.”?
However, apart from the harsh declarations, Rodman also had high praise for Pippen and made numerous remarks on his greatness. The Worm went as far as to declare Pippen, a “hero.”?

The Chicago Bulls drafted Scottie Pippen in the 1987 NBA draft. Upon his arrival, Pippen played the crucial role of second fiddle to Jordan. The two won six NBA championships and cemented themselves among the game’s greatest. Jordan’s stint with the Bulls yielded his global popularity and billionaire status. However, Pippen, who played an important role, got the short end of the stick.
One of the main reasons behind the success of the Bulls was that they got one of their star players for cents on the dollar. Pippen signed a seven-year deal worth $18 Million at the peak of his prime, leaving him heavily underpaid for most of his career. Among NBA circles, Pippen was the ‘Robin’ to Jordan’s ‘Batman.’
Moreover, despite a Hall of fame career, Pippen remains an afterthought in the best player ever conversations. All the above reasons have forced Pippen to embark on a journey to set the record straight.
