Dejounte Murray, a client of Klutch Sports, signed the $120M deal that will keep him in Atlanta for 4 years. In his first season with the Hawks, Murray averaged 20 PPG, 5.3 RPG and 6.1 APG. Hawks point guard Trae Young could not contain his excitement about his teammate’s deal and took to Twitter to issue a stern warning to the league.

In the tweet, Young mentions, “Can’t f*****g wait for the season.” With the 2-time All-Star himself signing a 5-year $207M extension in 2021, he is firmly placed in Atlanta for at least the coming season. Dejounte Murray too seemed thrilled with his deal, taking to Twitter to express his commitment to the franchise.

The Hawks have an exciting season coming up

With the deal to keep Murray in Atlanta, the Hawks have an interesting season lined up. Trae Young and Dejounte Murray had a rollercoaster season in 2022-23. The duo had some spectacular performances together, one such against the Houston Rockets when they combined for 83 points.

However, their season was not on par with what they had expected, ending up with a 41-41 record in the regular season. They were also eliminated from the playoffs in the first round in their matchup against the Boston Celtics.

The Hawks, however, have something to look forward for. They signed Quin Snyder late in the 2022-23 season as their head coach after firing Nate McMillan. Quin Snyder’s appointment did not change the fortunes of Atlanta much as they had a record of 10-11 under his helm. However, after playing only 21 games in the regular season with Snyder as head coach, the Hawks cannot be certain about his impact.

The Hawks further made a substantial move of trading away John Collins to the Utah Jazz for Rudy Gay and a future second round pick earlier this off season.
