NBA veteran Charles Barkley and newly recruited Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant have had a long-standing beef in the NBA, stemming from Barkley’s criticism of Durant joining the Golden State Warriors to win a Championship. The two have taken shots at each other on numerous occasions and sometimes it has gone too far. It looks like the beef won’t be over anytime soon as Barkley called Durant “very sensitive” in his recent 60 Minutes interview. Responding to his comments, one former NBA star pointed out the 1993 NBA MVP’s double standards, while defending Kevin Durant.

With constantly growing tensions between two big names of the game, other opinions are bound to come in. While Barkley and KD’s very public drama has triggered discussions among NBA fans, other notable NBA personalities are also jumping in with their opinions. To add his take on the matter, a three-time NBA All-Star has called out Barkley’s double standards while picking KD’s side in the feud.

Ex-NBA star Gilbert Arenas runs a successful podcast channel, Gil’s Arena. In the recent episode, Arenas and his fellow hosts talked about the KD-Barkley situation. Arenas was asked for his opinion on Barkley’s recent comments and the beef in general. The 41-year-old didn’t hold back in giving his honest opinion on the matter. Arenas said that, “It’s no accountability from the older players on who they were when they played.”

The 3x NBA All-Star added, “They were sensitive when they played.  We’re trying to talk about the guy, like remember he went to Houston and then he was throwing players under the bus. Talking about they were out of shape and…trying to ring chase.”

“He was one of the reasons that they didn’t win. There was no accountability there,” Arenas added. He also said that Barkley himself was “sensitive” when he played the game. According to the NBA star turned basketball analyst, Sir Charles didn’t like criticism, so it doesn’t make sense that he is going so hard at somebody else. The 41-year-old added that Barkley being all “high and mighty” is the problem behind this unnecessary feud.

Arenas brought up Barkley’s trade to Hakeem Olajuwon’s Houston Rockets, which didn’t turn out to be a fairy tale affair, to make his point. Notably, after Barkley’s 60 Minutes interview aired, KD tweeted his response to the comments.

Kevin Durant responds to Barkley after the interview

In his recently released interview, Chuck addressed his beef with Durant. He called the 2x NBA champion “very sensitive” while acknowledging that he is a great player. Barkley also said that KD belongs to a generation that thinks they cannot be criticized. These comments did not sit well with the Suns forward. Durant tweeted, “This ain’t gettin tiring chuck? I’ll never respect the words that come out ya mouth fam just deal with it.”
