The basketball world was shocked when they saw the Brooklyn Nets doing the impossible of bringing together a super team. They signed Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving in the same season. Unfortunately, things went downhill for them after a couple of years as they weren’t able to get their hands on the NBA gold. All three superstars were traded to different teams in the subsequent years. Quite recently, Kevin Durant was in the news as he opened up about his relationship with his former teammate Kyrie Irving.

KD and Kyrie joined hands at the Brooklyn Nets with the sole objective of winning the NBA title. Their time at Nets was full of controversies. Many would believe that this might have strained their relationship, but that is not the case, according to Durant.

Kevin Durant is busy featuring for the Phoenix Suns in the playoff series against the Los Angeles Clippers. Off the basketball court, he still took some time to give an interview to Logan Murdock from the Ringer about his time at the Brooklyn Nets and his relationship with his former teammates.

On getting asked where he and Kyrie stand now, he said, “That?s something I?m going to keep internal. I don?t want to expose our relationship.” He added, ” I think that?s deeper than basketball, but I wouldn?t say it was a problem. I didn?t think it was a problem.”?He explained that his relationship with Irving went beyond the basketball court.

A lot happened during their time together in Brooklyn. Kevin Durant previously defended Irving’s decision to not feature in the league games for the Nets due to a vaccine mandate. Their relationship was definitely not a ‘problem’, according to him.

Durant reflects about Kyrie’s trade from the Nets

When KD was out due to a knee injury during his time at Brooklyn, Irving, who had a contract with the Nets, requested a trade from the team. Well, it came as a shock to KD as Kyrie didn’t mention it to him before about his decision. He said, “Yeah, I was upset that we couldn?t finish?We were finally building the culture that we always wanted. I felt like every game we were building our chemistry.”?It’s safe to say that Kevin is not very pleased with how things came to an end at the Brooklyn Nets. He did want to win the championship with Kyrie at his former team. Kevin Durant is now starring for the Phoenix Suns at the NBA playoffs whereas Kyrie Irving was traded to the Dallas Mavericks.
