A producer at GB News recently shared an image on Twitter that has caused a major backlash on the social media platform. The image showed a few individuals casually posing for photos at the Auschwitz concentration camp during a tour. The producer noted that she had a distressing time there. However, she was disappointed that some fellow visitors did not seem to respect the history of the place. Former NBA star Rex Chapman seemed enraged by the viral image, which appalled many fans as well.

The cruelty that took place at the Auschwitz concentration camp is one of the most horrifying events in modern history. According to various reports, over 1.1 million people were brutally killed at the camp during the Holocaust.

A visitor named Maria, working for GB News, shared the image of people insensitively posing for photos in front of the Auschwitz concentration camp. In the caption, she wrote, “Today I had one of the most harrowing experiences of my life. Regrettably it didn?t seem everyone there found it quite so poignant.”?

Given the horrific history of the camp, many Twitter users found it disturbing that people nonchalantly clicked photos at a historical site where such brutal atrocities were carried out. Many users slammed the people in the image for their lack of respect and sensitivity. As the post went viral, it caught the eyes of many, including NBA veteran turned internet personality, Rex Chapman.

The former Charlotte Hornets star was furious with what he saw and he made himself clear. He noted that the action was “Revolting” and clarified to his fans that it was at the Auschwitz concentration camp. He added, Should disqualify you from participating in life for a year. Home confinement.”

Many of Chapman’s followers also found it very shocking and lashed out at the individuals in the image. However, some fans wondered whether the tourists had any idea where they actually were.

Were the tourists unaware of the history?

While most fans thrashed the actions of the people posing for photos at the Auschwitz concentration camp, some wondered whether they were ignorant of the history. However, Maria clarified that the tour had already been going on for a couple of hours at that point. So there is no way anyone could claim they were not aware of its history. Furthermore, she added that this happened despite constant reminders from guides to be mindful and respectful during the tour of the camp.
