Charles Barkley started off by stating that his mentor, Mike Wilbon is someone who gained a lot of attention from television. He narrated how Wilbon worked at the Washington Post for the past 25 years and did everything he could do but still did not get as much recognition. However, after working on television for just a year, Wilbon gained popularity and people started recognising him.
Barkley stated that because of the power of television, people on TV needed to be careful with how they spoke about others. They could criticize someone but ought never to make it personal, and that they needed to be fair and honest.
Finally, talking about how Skip Bayless has been on his radar – to say the least – Barkley quipped that Bayless always made it personal while criticizing people. As an example, he noted how it was impossible for Bayless to dislike everything about LeBron James, and that judging by how Bayless targeted James one could easily tell who Bayless personally liked and disliked.
Barkley believes that Bayless is disrespectful towards James, and he does not like the way Bayless treats Shannon Sharpe either. According to Barkley, Bayless is biased in his opinion about others – if he likes someone, he will constantly praise them, such as Tom Brady, while if he is not fond of them, he becomes disrespectful.
Barkley says he “don’t have a hidden agenda”
Days after Charles Barkley addressed his share of disagreements with Skip Bayless, he made another statement directed at Bayless and the television industry in general. On a clip from Sunday on 60 mins, Charles Barkley is asked a question, “Why do you suppose people want to listen to you?” Barkley replied, “I think they know that I’m gonna be honest, I’m gonna be fair, I don’t have a hidden agenda – not many people on TV that you can say that about.”

Barkley’s main issue with Bayless seems to stem from his lack of respect for others being a cover for own bias. Barkley believes that Bayless has been rewarded too much for his disrespectful behavior, and that he should be more considerate of what people go through to make it to the top of their respective fields.
