The Minnesota Timberwolves turned on the heat during the Friday night game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Wolves knocked the Thunder out of the playoff race with a dominating performance. Moreover, former NBA Champion and Timberwolves legend Kevin Garnett predicted Minnesota’s rage, days before Friday’s game. Notably, Garnett tweeted a controversial statement after an ugly courtside brawl between Rudy Gobert and his teammate. After the game, he took to Twitter to flex his bold claim.

During the Wolves’ last regular season game against the New Orleans Pelicans, Rudy Gobert landed a sucker punch at Kyle Anderson’s chest. Following the incident, the NBA world flooded social media criticizing Gobert, but Garnett surprised everyone with his twisted take.

The former Timberwolves star surprised everyone with his tweet after the brawl. He tweeted, “Nothing like a light scuffle to tighten up the screws before the playoffs! LFG @Timberwolves!” While several other NBA analysts questioned the sportsman spirit of Gobert, Garnett encouraged the tussle.

However, days after the ugly scuffle, the Wolves sealed their spot in the playoffs and will take on the Denver Nuggets in the first round. Moreover, Garnett took this opportunity to re-share the screen grab of his old tweet and proved his point.

He wrote, “Right…” to imply that Gobert’s punch had tightened the screws for the Wolves ahead of the pivotal game on Friday.

What happened at the courtside?

In a timeout during the second quarter of the game against the Pelicans, the Wolves camp seemed to have a restless environment. With only a few seconds left in the timeout, a frustrated Gobert punched Kyle Anderson. There isn’t any update on the reason behind the fight. However, the teammates and staff intervened and separated the players immediately, and sent Gobert to the locker room.

However, the team registered a 113-108 win against the Pelicans. There isn’t any proof for Garnett’s analogy, but the Wolves have surely asserted their dominance post the brawl.
