Despite retiring in 2003 and being rarely seen in public, NBA icon Michael Jordan remains one of the most popular personalities on the planet. MJ’s game-worn possessions often sell for mind-boggling amounts of money, proving how popular he still is. Sports memorabilia collectors apparently would go to any extent to get their hands on any game-worn possession of His Airness. There’s good news for them, as a game-worn possession of the Chicago Bulls legend will go up for auction.

Last year, Sotheby’s auctioned Jordan’s 1998 NBA Finals Game 1  jersey for an estimated $3 million to $5 million. It was sold for $10.1 million in September 2022, becoming the most expensive sports jersey of all time. However, this record could break now as another game-worn jersey of the six-time NBA champion is going on sale.

TMZ Sports recently spoke with the founder of the Goldin Auctions, Ken Goldin, prior to the premiere of his new Netflix series King of Collectibles: The Golden Touch. He talked about some of the collectibles that are featured on the show. The 57-year-old initially showed the pair of sneakers worn by MJ in Game 5 of the 1997 Finals.

Following this, Goldin showed the only existing game-used photo-matched 1992 Olympics “Dream Team” jersey of the 14x All-Star. He said, “He[Michael Jordan] gave it to his teammates Karl Malone. It is photo matched to the medal round in the 1992 Dream Team.” Moreover, Goldin added that he got his hands on it last year.

Donning the iconic white jersey, His Airness played on the “Dream Team” alongside legends like Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and others. The USA won the gold medal in Barcelona in 1992 after defeating Croatia in one of the most memorable events in sports history.

Goldin Auctions is a company that runs a marketplace where people can buy or sell sports memorabilia, trading cards, and other collectibles. People who are interested in grabbing this iconic jersey and have a feel for it, then they can visit their website and start bidding. Bidding starts tonight at 7:00 pm/ct at $250k.

Incidentally, this news came out almost three weeks after a pair of MJ’s game-worn sneakers fetched seven figures.

Jordan’s shoes were sold for a record-breaking price

A pair of Nike Air Ships that the Bulls legend wore while dominating the NBA hardwood was sold for $1.47 million in 2021. However, this record was broken when another pair of his game-worn shoes were sold earlier this month. Sotheby’s announced on Twitter that the six-time NBA champion’s Air Jordan 13s, which he wore in Game 2 of the 1998 Finals, were sold for $2.2 million. Those sneakers became the most valuable sneakers ever sold.
