NBA legend Charles Barkley has seldom refrained from revealing his gut feelings about crucial NBA games. The 1993 MVP’s willingness to predict the outcome of several games has cemented his position as an entertaining analyst of the game. The Chuckster, however, has at times landed in hot waters after his predictions went wrong. Recently, Sir Charles lost out after he challenged Shaquille O’Neal for a billion-dollar bet. Nonetheless, Barkley has now geared up for another gamble as he dropped a truth bomb at the recently vanquished Memphis Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies just got outsmarted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the first game of the first-round series. To add insult to injury of the outplayed franchise, Charles Barkley took a dig at Ja Morant and co. with another billion-dollar bet.

Charles Barkley makes a billion-dollar claim against the Grizzlies
As an analyst, Charles Barkley has been making sure that he contributes his part to spice up the post-season frenzy. Last week, when the Miami Heat locked horns with the Atlanta Hawks in the play-in tournament, the Chuckster had boldly proclaimed that the Heat were going to win the game, in an episode of Inside the NBA. Co-host Shaquille O’Neal was quick to ask Barkley to place a bet. Surprising all the hosts, including Shaq, Barkley quickly placed a $1 billion bet on the Miami Heat. However, to the dismay of the Round Mound of Rebound, the Heat fell against the Hawks. Despite losing a billion then, Barkley has come up with a new prediction this week.

After the Lakers defeated the Grizzlies in Game 1, the Inside the NBA crew started to examine the Lakers’ prospects in the forthcoming games. Ernie Johnson pointed out that the LA side has won 24 straight series when they won Game 1. Barkley responded to Johnson as if the Lakers’ victory in the series against the Grizzlies is a foregone conclusion. “Nobody picked Memphis to win the series. You cannot overcome the Steven Adams, Clarke injuries,” said Barkley.
Ernie Johnson, however, revealed that he had bet on the Grizzlies to win the series. The Chuckster was not ready to give up his claim against the Grizzlies. “Hey, I will give you, I will bet you anything in the world. You want to go another billion?” asked Sir Charles. Co-host Kenny Smith was quick to refer to the infamous $1 billion. “Another billion,” said Kenny Smith to Charles Barkley, who was challenging Ernie Johnson for a bet. And, Barkley said?“yes” to Kenny Smith.

Crucial days ahead for the Grizzlies
As Ernie Johnson pointed out, only one game has been played between the Grizzlies and the Lakers. However, the Grizzlies are far from letting out a sigh of relief. The injuries to Steven Adams and Brandon Clarke will prove to be a heavy blow for the Grizzlies. Besides, Ja Morant injured his wrist in the game against the Lakers.
While the Grizzlies have their players sidelined on the back of injuries, the Lakers on the other hand are star-studded. Moreover, the Lakers are living up to their post-season reputation after each game passes.
