The country has waited for a long time to see Brittney Griner back on the hardwood. Griner went through a horrific 10-month period during her exile in Russia. After a lot of protests and campaigns to bring her back, the US government brought back the WNBA star in a prisoner swap deal with Russia. After Griner recently celebrated the first amendment with the POTUS during the White House Correspondents dinner, a recent update on the Phoenix Mercury star is bound to excite fans.

Ever since her return, Griner and her wife Cherelle have been advocating for Americans going through similar problems. Meanwhile, her fans have been waiting to see their favorite star back in action. The WNBA star recently attended a practice session with her team, the Phoenix Mercury. Amidst all the anticipation, the WNBA announced a massive update on Griner for her fans.

It’s been almost five months since Griner returned home from Russia. Since then, the speculations have been high about her return to the hardwood.

Meanwhile, Griner and her wife Cherelle have been busy with the campaigns they have started for American citizens held captive in foreign countries. The couple have made several pleas to the government regarding many prisoners over the past few months. Recently, they attended the White House Correspondents dinner. After the event, in an Instagram post, the couple highlighted the plight of Evan Gershkovich and Austin Tice. Both American citizens are held captive in foreign soil.

Amidst all this, Griner recently joined her team the Phoenix Mercury on the court for a practice session. It was also announced that the WNBA star will join her team on the 21st of May. The WNBA’s Instagram account posted another update on Griner with a video of her photoshoot in the Mercury jersey. The caption read “It?s lit ? The szn is getting closer meaning we?ll see BG return to the court on May 19 vs. the LA Sparks ?.” This update was enough to excite Griner’s fans as they swarmed into the comments, wishing her all the luck.
