He opened up about this incident during the Creative Artists Agency (CAA) in Ojio, California, revealing to People, “I came home,?and I just remember my daughter – my child – being scared to talk to me, like hiding in my wife?s arm in the chair.??

He thought he was a ?cool dad?, willing to listen and accept anything from his child. However, his perspective on his own parenting changed a little, as he tells Hollywood reporter, “Because maybe I ain?t what I think I am. I haven?t done what I think. That first moment of seeing that…I had to go look at myself in the mirror and ask why was my child scared to tell me something about herself.?

Dwyane Wade?s Instagram bio says, ?Father first?. He puts a lot of emphasis on fatherhood. Therefore, when he retired and saw his kids up close, he started to learn more about them. This learning experience coincides with Zaya?s lack of closure about her gender identity.
