Steph Curry just set the NBA on fire with a 62-point performance against the Portland Trail Blazers. Curry led the Warriors to a win against the team they beat in the 2019 Western Conference Finals. The match was billed as a clash between the two best point guards in the league, one being Steph and the other being Damian Lillard.
After Steph had to sit out most of last season with an injury, a Steph vs Dame narrative started in which people started putting Dame over Steph. While there is an argument to be made, Steph silenced his critics tonight. Dame had a 32-point game himself, and the two PGs were seen chatting after the game.

Dame also tweeted a clip of them and wrote that he can’t dish it out if he wasn’t able to take it. This is regarding everything Dame has said about his own skill. But at least he is giving Steph Curry his flowers with a very open endorsement.

Steph Curry: Proving himself as the best PG in the league?
While the conversation about who ‘the best’ is can sometimes feel a little unnecessary, it is an active part of the narrative around sports. There is always competition between players to see which one of them is better than the other, and this is a fact that even Dame is hinting at in his tweet.
The one thing that holds true about basketball is that people change their opinion on who the best is on a game-by-game basis. Steph was being panned just two days ago, with people putting Dame over him. Dame himself gets attacked for bad performances and knocked off his perch by the people. It is a fickle conversation that changes the criteria all the time.

As of now, we can definitely say that Steph is one of the best PGs in the league. The same goes for Lillard. However, Steph does wear the crown tonight after this incredible performance.
