However, he is lacking in the department of bagging a championship title. Time and again, he has voiced his desire to be crowned a champion. Recently, he named the player he wants to win a championship with, and Lillard’s choice has left fans on Twitter very excited.

Since 2012, Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers have made it to the playoffs eight times. However, they haven’t been able to reach the NBA Finals even once. With that said, in the latest episode of GQ Magazine’s ‘Actually Me’, Damian Lillard responded to comments and questions from fans. One question stated, “If you were to pick a player that would help you win a championship, who would you pick?” The?2013’s Rookie of the Year said Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. Following this answer, fans were quick to react online.

Fans expressed their desire and hope for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard to team up one day. Many stated that they have always waited for this to happen and predicted that this duo would win around 2-3 championships together. One tweet said, “Now that would be a terrifying duo.”?

Some fans were also realistic and claimed that this situation would never happen as both the players are extremely loyal to their teams. Many even believed that with these two All-Stars, a team would never lose a game. Fans even pleaded for this to eventually become a reality.

Damian Lillard’s season so far

This season, Damian Lillard has averaged around 27.6 points and 7.4 assists per game. He sat out for a few games initially due to injury. However, since his return, Lillard has led his team from the front. In the Trail Blazers’ previous game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Lillard bagged 36 points and 8 assists. This performance was highly instrumental, as they beat the Timberwolves by 6 points.

While the 2020 Olympic gold medalist continues to impress the league, Lillard has acknowledged that for the team to do well they have to play as a unit. He said, “If we’re really going to win, then it has to be collective.” He continued to acknowledge that playing as a unit is something that has been happening this season. Lillard finds this to be highly encouraging.

With this win, the Portland Trail Blazers are currently placed 6th on the Western Conference table. However, a place in the playoffs isn’t guaranteed just yet.
