The Dallas Mavericks were another unpredictable team that were quite a scare for the LA Clippers last season. After Luka Doncic’s stellar performances that won over NBA fans’ hearts, this upcoming season, they are one of the Top-10 teams in the list of contention.
With roster changes this offseason, the Mavs have brought in Tyrell Terry from the 2020 NBA Draft, who is expected to fill that void that Seth Curry will be leaving in the wake of his transfer to the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Mavericks had no trouble on the offensive end last season. However, one can’t say the same about their defense, which is what they tried to fix this offseason. On paper, it does look like they’ve done a fairly good job.
They’ve improved their roster by adding Josh Richardson from the Philadelphia 76ers and James Johnson from the Minnesota Timberwolves. Alone, these two can starkly bring a huge difference to their defensive rating.
But there is one more rookie that was added to the roster who will have to fill a very important role as a result of Seth Curry’s absence.
Tyrell Terry has the potential to fill Seth’s shoes
In an interview with Scoop B, Mark Cuban was asked about his thoughts on Tyrell taking over Seth’s role. Mark stated, “You’re not ready yet. You’re not going to replace Seth Curry, who’s one of the top three-point shooters of all time.
“But he has the ability to grow into that,” Mark also said. “We’re really impressed by him. He’s quick, wiry, smart and he can shoot. Those are all good starting points, so we’ll see.
“But you never quite know what the mental makeup is and how hard a guy will work until they get here. So far he’s been great, and he’s got the talent and the ability. He may, in a couple of years, step up to where Seth was.”
With all the pieces in place, the Mavericks look like they have a shot at breaching the Top-5 teams in the Western Conference.
