Joel Embiid was recently declared the 2023 MVP and rightfully so. Although Embiid had some tough competition for the title, he came out victorious. After years of hard work and patience, it is finally the time of the Philadelphia 76ers star. The remarkable feat calls for celebration and Embiid’s teammates know how to kickstart that. After his big W, James Harden presented the 2023 MVP with a personalized gift that left him emotional.

Embiid has been in the MVP conversation for a few seasons, but he kept missing out on sealing the deal. In 2023, he faced strong competition from Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Both stars are two-time winners of the award. Amidst the 76ers star receiving high praise from fans and peers, Harden made the moment even more special.

The 6x NBA All-Star has had a great season barring a few injuries. In fact, he picked up a knee injury during game 3 of the playoff round and had to sit out game 4. Although the 76ers cleared the playoffs in four straight games, Embiid’s absence was a scare for the team and their fans. Even during semifinals game 1, Harden dropped 45 points to ensure his team’s win against the Boston Celtics in Embiid’s absence. Himself an MVP, Harden won the coveted award in 2018. As someone who understands the MVP feeling, the Beard made sure that his teammate gets a token of appreciation from him.

The 10x NBA All-Star gifted a “shiny” Rolex to Embiid. He had it personalized to mark the monumental feat for Embiid. The watch had 23 MVP written on it, referring to the 76ers star’s recent achievement. Several media personalities shared the clip of Harden giving the watch to Embiid. The 29-year-old got emotional over the gesture and gave his teammate a hug while thanking him for the gift. Embiid can also be heard saying in the video that it’s his first watch. Now the two MVPs need one more achievement on their resume, and that is the NBA championship.
