The Los Angeles Lakers have been able to stay above the water for the past couple of weeks. Despite winning five games in a row, the Lakers are still in the bottom half of the Western Conference. Though they have managed to move up a spot in the ladder in the West. Many had counted the Lakers out after their star big man, Anthony Davis, went down with an injury once again. But a potential return of ‘The Brow’ seems to have the opposite effect as fans request a trade.

LeBron James has been holding his ground, leading the team in scoring once again in the absence of his fellow teammate. Not just James, Russell Westbrook has been pouring it in coming off the bench.

Fans not excited about the return of Anthony Davis

According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, Anthony Davis will be back in training be back into the Lakers lineup within two weeks. Davis had been an integral part of the team when healthy. He was leading his squad in points and rebounds, averaging 27.4 PPG and 12.1 RPG this season. So, it would be natural for fans to be excited to see their star player return.

However, that was not the case. Fans criticized Davis, and some were even requesting the Lakers’ front office to trade the big man while he holds trade value. Here are some more reactions from Twitter.

 

Davis has been receiving huge criticism for his injury layoffs in the last few seasons. Fans are worried that it is just a matter of a few games until he is injured again. So a lot of fans want him traded.

Davis went down with a foot injury a couple of weeks before Christmas. He has missed 12 games so far for the Lakers and will probably be missing out on a few more.

The Lakers without their big man

After the injury to Anthony Davis, fans and analysts around the league were quick to count the Lakers out. Even though their record does not reflect playoff contention, the season is far from over and LeBron James is showing no signs of slowing down.

Injuries have been a major problem for the Purple and Gold. Austin Reaves and Lonnie Walker IV, two critical key rotation players have been out of the lineup for the past couple of games as well. Yet, they have managed to win games.
