He left amid a 2-5 record for this season. The Nets’ triple threat of Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, and Ben Simmons was a combination that set a lot of high expectations in the league.

In the game between the Brooklyn Nets and the Indiana Pacers, Steve Nash was still their head coach. Kyrie Irving hadn’t been suspended yet. It was reported that during the game, Nash had called out different plays ten times. Each and every time, Irving apparently deliberately did something else.
The scout who witnessed this exchange said he couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Even fans had a hard time digesting the news. They were upset and saddened by the equation that Nash and Irving shared. One person tweeted, “This is sad what y’all doin.”

Nets general manager Sean Marks also echoed the same sentiments. Marks said the team “was not doing what it was supposed to be doing”. They were not following the game plans, and certainly not following head coach Steve Nash.
Another scout previously labeled the team as “dysfunctional”. It has been reported that Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka, currently under suspension himself, is the favorite to land the job. However, reports suggest Nets owner Joe Tsai is being urged not to sign Udoka as the new head coach.
