The Brooklyn Nets guard has arguably always been under the shadow of controversy, and this time his refusal to initially apologize for his actions led to several of his endorsement brands cutting ties with Irving. It will be interesting to see whether Irving can sign a deal with New Balance.

Some fans said that Irving would be a better fit for luxury brand Balenciaga considering they are currently embroiled in a controversy of their own. Others suggested that the New Balance brand is too small for Irving?s stature and that his shoes are going to bring New Balance?s reputation and sales back up. Notably, Nike’s contract termination reportedly cost Irving around $11 million per year. The seven-time All-Star is now a free agent in the sneaker market.?

The brand is not exactly popular among basketball fans, with arguably only Kawhi Leonard as their notable signing. Leonard signed with NB back in 2018, to shock many sports brands, after having even turned down Nike?s Jordan brand.

The Brooklyn Nets are currently in fourth place on the Eastern Conference table, with a 14-12 record so far this season. The Nets dreamt of winning a championship with stars like Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in their ranks.
