The month started with Kyrie Irving shockingly requesting a trade out of the Brooklyn Nets. The league gasped at this development while teams quickly got to work. They drew trade the best possible proposals and reached out to the Nets’ front office. Teams like the Los Angeles Lakers, the Dallas Mavericks, and the Phoenix Suns put their hats in the ring for the 30-year-old star. As per reports, the Lakers “offered Russell Westbrook and two first-round picks.” On the other hand, the Suns offered Jae Crowder, Chris Paul, and a first-round pick.

Eventually, the Nets were most impressed by the Dallas Mavericks‘ proposal. As reported by Sham Charania, the proposal included “Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, a first-round, and multiple second-round picks.” As the NBA world tried to wrap their heads around this trade, reporters rushed to interview Phoenix Suns’ Chris Paul amid intensifying trade rumors.

Chris Paul remains unbothered by intensifying trade talks

During practice on Monday, Paul spoke to AZcentral and opened up about his thoughts on the trade rumors circling him. He stated that the league was a business, a business he knew all too well. Paul stated, “Nobody’s exempt from being traded. Find out just like everybody else.”

CP3 opened up about how he deals with such situations. He stated that whatever happened, one shows up to work and be professional “day in and day out”. Paul emphasized the nature of the league. The NBA veteran claimed that teams will always focus on what works best for them. Hence, as players, they must focus on their craft. He said, “Show up, got a job to do and it is what it is.”

Paul was candid about the situation and confessed to having seen crazier situations in the league. He stated this while referring to the past when he was traded out of the Houston Rockets, where he was teammates with the 2018 MVP James Harden. Paul said, “I’ve seen crazier. The way I found out I was traded from Houston.” 

Paul still unhappy about leaving James Harden and co?

In 2019, Paul was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder from the Houston Rockets. This trade was a shocker to Paul. He revealed that the General Manager of the Rockets had given him his word that he wouldn’t be traded.

But eventually, Paul stood blindsided and unhappy with the situation. He had to leave James Harden and co, and felt “back-stabbed”. While the 37-year-old detests the position he his in, he understands that the NBA is a business.
