Following in his ex-NBA star father’s footsteps, Stephen Curry started to hoop, and the rest is history. Steph, however, owes quite a lot of his athleticism to his mother as well. The Golden State Warriors star’s mother, Sonya Curry, was an ace volleyball player during her day. Just like fellow sports icons, Sonya, too, is a person of many talents. One among them was her stint as the President of the Christian Montessori School of Lake Norman. But how did the ex-volleyball star venture into the role of an educational visionary?

Sonya Curry’s memoir Fierce Love is filled with intriguing and awe-inspiring anecdotes. One such anecdote from Fierce Love revolves around Sonya and an 18-year-old. Perhaps, it was Sonya’s interactions with the teenager that later prompted her to change direction.
