In the latest episode of the podcast, WNBA star, Kelsey Plum was featured as a guest. The Las Vegas Aces guard has often made headlines for her controversial takes. She has, earlier, extensively talked about the pay discrepancy between men and women in the world of sports, something that has been a frequent source of debate. Plum, on the show, however, took a dig at the 11x NBA All-Star leaving his face visibly stunned.

Charles Barkley is looking at extending his deal with TNT which could be well into the nine-figures. The WNBA star took a dig at Barkley, who may be getting paid in the nine figures, without having won a championship ring. Despite winning a WNBA Championship, Plum has a base salary of just $200,000.

During the episode, Barkley asked Plum, “Do you want to come just right now guarantee a repeat (Championship) right now?“. Chuck, however, was not expecting a cold response from the player. Plum immediately responded, “You know from someone that’s never won a championship…“, leaving the rest in disbelief. Further advising Chuck, she said, “I’ll just give you some advice, that’s really not what you do“.  The 11x NBA All-Star’s face turned red and visibly stunned.

Chuck tried to settle the insult by saying, “It’s Christmas season, everybody’s nice around Christmas” He jokingly added, “We can’t even cut that out of the damn interview” while Ernie mockingly said, “We’re not about to cut that off“. Although, Plum ended the conversation with, “All love,” Barkley’s reaction suggested differently.

In the past, Shaquille O’Neal has frequently pulled Chuck’s legs several times for his empty trophy cabinet. Barkley has, however, always had his punch-backs ready.

Plum’s recent remarks about the gender pay gap between NBA and WNBA ring true. According to statistics, the average salary of a player in the NBA salary is $7.5 Million whereas the WNBA average is around $116,000. Her current salary cap of $200,000 pales in comparison to Charles Barkley’s salary cap of  $10 million per season.
