In the aftermath of the Lakers’ horrendous 2021-22 season, is coach Frank Vogel to be blamed for the poor show? Regardless of what any of us think, the 48-year-old is definitely on the chopping block. With the likes of Doc Rivers and others reportedly on LA’s radar, the sun might be setting on an eventful stint for Vogel. However, NBA legend Charles Barkley feels that the experienced coach has been blamed way too much; and he may have fired an indirect shot at LeBron James in the process.

Ever since the beginning of their campaign, the Lakers were battling constant injuries. One of their main absentees had been 29-year-old Anthony Davis. Unfortunately for Frank Vogel’s side, LeBron and Davis featured together in under 30 outings this season.

Following their unsuccessful outing, questions were raised over the potential exit of a plethora of players. In fact, coach Vogel headlined the possible exits, and he now finds his job hanging by the finest of threads.

Charles Barkley takes aim at LeBron James, defends Frank Vogel and Russell Westbrook

An NBA legend in his own right, Charles Barkley has been serving as an analyst for several years now. Subsequently, the 59-year-old believes that Vogel has received far too much criticism over the season’s failure.

Instead, he has stated that the ones in charge of putting this side together deserve to be taken to task. For all we know, this could even mean the likes of 37-year-old LeBron James. After all, the 4-time NBA champion was the deciding factor in at least one operation.

Addressing the Lakers firing Vogel, Barkley said, “Well Frank Vogel is getting screwed.” He proceeded to destroy the rest of the Lakers set up with a brutal rant.

“Whoever put these old a** ge*zers together, they deserve the lion’s share. They scape-goated Frank and Russ all year.” Interestingly enough, those are the two names that stand out as potential exits from the Lakers roster.
