The Los Angeles Lakers have been a frustrating team this season. Their fans have watched the team fall apart on many occasions and it is not a great sight. Most have blamed new arrival Russell Westbrook and are also going for Frank Vogel. However, Charles Barkley expressed his support for Vogel and blamed Anthony Davis, for their shaky season so far.

The Lakers have a 12-12 record for the season. However, they have been a few or more games where they should have easily won. While their chemistry is certainly an issue, it is clear that there are other problems as well.

Notably, their defense has let them down big time, which in turn causes their offense to go stagnant. Fans have been quick to blame their point guard, Westbrook, as he had many turnovers early in the season.

Charles Barkley goes off on Anthony Davis

During a segment of NBA on TNT, Barkley said that he wanted to get something off right at the start of the show. He proceeded to speak about the Lakers and their bad performances. He came to the defense of Russ and Frank Vogel while calling out 27 year old Anthony Davis.

Barkley came to Russ and Vogel’s defense first. He said that Westbrook is learning to fit in while Frank Vogel is a great coach. Barkley then expressed his dissatisfaction with the way Davis has been playing so far.

He followed this by going off on Davis and calling him out for not delivering on the expectations set for him.

Barkley angrily said: “In my opinion, I blame Anthony Davis. You know I like you as a person, but you ain’t doing what you supposed to. You’re 27 years old. You are supposed to be in your prime. You’re supposed to be one of the five best players in the world up there with Giannis, Kevin Durant and those guys. And you ain’t holding up your end of the bargain.”

Barkley was clearly frustrated on Davis not playing up to his potential. Davis has proved that he can be a top player in the league. However, this season has been one to forget so far. He is shooting the worst percentage from deep in NBA history and is struggling to make his jumpshots as well.

There is no doubt about Davis’ greatness. However, he needs to step it up if the Lakers hope to win a title with this team.
