Charles Barkley was on the Pat McAfee podcast recently. Moreover, he talked about his future and also took digs at the media who compare LeBron James and Michael Jordan. When asked about the Los Angeles Lakers this season, he had a lot to say about them and Anthony Davis in particular.
Charles Barkley on Anthony Davis:
According to Barkley, this LA team has been disappointing and is not championship-winning worthy. The 11 time NBA star has lost all hope in this Lakers team.

Barkley mentioned, “I don’t think this team is gonna work in LA. I don’t think you can put all those geezers together and just gonna come together. You know sports is a young man’s game and the most disappointing of aspects has been Anthony Davis.”
He is not wrong. Davis has been very disappointing this season and is not performing up to expectations. However, Davis is not the only one to be blamed. The entire Lakers team has been disappointing and has been depending on LeBron James a bit too much.
Davis this season:
The Los Angeles Lakers power forward has averaged 23.8 points per game with 10.2 rebounds per game. His play has been rather lethargic as he has displayed a lack of bounce and what sometimes appears to be a lack of effort. He is hitting below 20% beyond the arc which is really poor considering a player of his stature.

While everyone expected LeBron James to drop off, considering his age and Anthony Davis to be the next big thing. It has been the other way around; LeBron has performed well this season while Davis is nowhere near the next big thing.

Anthony Davis had a good start to the 2020-21 season but a calf injury caused all the problems. He missed 30 games because of this injury and has been a shadow of his former self ever since then. The forward averaged a dismal 39.3% from the field in his last eight games. His bad offensive display, along with LeBron James’ unavailability, has seriously cost the LA Lakers their chance of being back-to-back champions.
