Charles Barkley was one of the best players of his time. As much as the fans used to love him on the court, they showed similar love even after he turned into an analyst. But due to his refreshingly honest personality, Barkley doesn’t hesitate to criticize the players performing badly. He criticized players like Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, and many others. However, most of the time, he also got a reply to his criticisms. Considering this, Taylor Rooks asked the Sixers legend if there was any difference between players of that time and today on the subject of reacting to criticisms.

Charles Barkley sat down with Taylor Rooks for an exclusive interview. In that interview, he discussed various things. From explaining his falling out with Michael Jordan to answering a question related to Kevin Durant, Barkley dived deeper into many topics. However, among them, Rooks’ aforementioned question made Barkley state some advice for current NBA players.

Charles Barkley expressed that today’s players overreact much more than the players of his generation. He added that from Magic Johnson to Larry Bird to Michael Jordan, everybody received criticism. Moreover, the Sixers legend even stated an intriguing fact for supporting his statement. He said, “When Magic played bad one year, they called him Tragic Johnson, but he didn’t get mad.”

His statement probably depicted how he wanted the players to understand that everybody received criticism once in their lifetime. Barkley added that the current players never look back at their mistakes. According to him, they never question themselves regarding whether the criticism received was actually fair or not.

Barkley also explained that if he was receiving criticism, then at first he would have verified whether they were right. If they were not right, then he would have reacted to them. Therefore, his remarks were pretty self-explanatory and indicated how he wanted the current players to reflect back on the criticisms before reacting to them. Along with choosing between players from the past and today, he also dropped a piece of advice for them.
