With time, the situation with Ben Simmons and Philly takes different turns. One of the talking points of the summer was Simmons’ silence throughout. He did not speak with the organization and when he finally did; he expressed his desire to leave. After that, heavy fines got him back to practice half heartedly. This is because he doesn’t take part for the most part.
When the issue came up, Philly did not mind letting the star go for a good return. While there were quite a few offers, none, to the satisfaction of Philly, came by. The 76ers made it clear that they want a game changer in return for Ben Simmons. However, Simmons’ value has decreased after the playoffs last season. Hence, getting a star in return has been hard.
Recently, Charles Barkley spoke about Ben Simmons. He spoke about a potential trade and how it could lead to a general manager being fired because of it.

Can Ben Simmons get a GM fired?
Barkley started as an analyst after his legendary career in the NBA. However, he believes in being frank and speaks his words as they come. When it comes to Simmons, he has been very blunt and to the point. So when speaking about him, Barkley has multiple times that Ben needs to improve.
Barkley also stated that not many teams would pay a guard who is afraid to shoot $40 million. This comes from Simmons; playoff performance where he barely took any shots through the series. When talking about a potential trade for Ben, Barkley said that it is no easy job, especially for the GM.

Charles said: “I tell people, ‘You act as if it’s going to be easy to trade this guy. If you make that trade as a GM, and he does not get better and won’t shoot the ball, you deserve to be fired.”
The main concern with any team would draw back to Simmons’ willingness to improve. There have been several players who have made their shot better. A prime example would be Lonzo Ball who has transformed himself into a consistent shooter. Hence, not showing improvement since coming in is the main reason teams would hesitate to give up a star despite Ben Simmons being an elite defender.
