Vintage NBA fistfights are quite entertaining. From the 80s Celtics vs Lakers to the early 90s Bulls vs Pistons, there have been a lot of fights mid-game. Sometimes the fight ends up in the stands as well, same with the infamous ‘Malace at the Palace’ case.

But this one legend got sucker-punched while on the ground. Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal’s altercation is widely known among NBA fans, but Chuck’s altercation with the Pistons was no less. This brawl ended up with one of the players bleeding, while others continued to fight for a while.

In a game versus the Pistons, Chuck and the Sixers ended up fighting with little time left on the clock. Rick Mahorn, in transition, went down the lane but was fouled. Right after, Bill Laimbeer shoved the ball on Mahorn’s face. This triggered the altercation between Mahorn and Laimbeer, but in the next second Barkley went and pushed Bill.

Both the players then got into a fistfight, which had Barkley on the floor while Mahorn was trying to help him up. While Barkley was on the floor, Scott Hastings went in and threw a punch at his face. The altercation between the players did not end so quickly. It took a while to separate both the teams and get everything in order. Bill Laimbeer was hurt, as he seemed to have a black eye after Barkley punched him.

This was a bizarre fight between the players. It’s rare to see such happen these days. But back in those days, fines and suspensions did not bother players so much. Not only Barkley, but Jordan and the Bulls had a hard time dealing with the Pistons as well.

Barkley would suit up like Muhammad Ali to get his revenge

In NBA on TNT, Chuck said that he still owes Scott Hastings a few punches.

“He hits me when I’m on the bottom. And Scott I still owe you a two-piece like Ali.”,?said Barkley. Chuck is still ready to hunt Scott down and teach him a lesson, as he said, “Scott, I’m gonna hunt you down one these days. Come in your house and right before dinner, when you get ready to eat, Imma clock your a**.”

Though Chuck is being sarcastic, it is great to see how both of them now treat the past difference as jokes.
