The Los Angeles Lakers legend, Kobe Bryant, apart from being one of the best players, knew how to make a difference in people’s lives. However, do you know that once without even knowing he changed the life of a former Boston Celtics player? The said Celtics player recently disclosed how the?Black Mamba’s disappearance?eventually helped him win a championship. Moreover, he revealed how the Lakers legend’s passing made him reconsider and mend his relationship with his former teammate.

The said Celtics player is none other than the 2008 NBA champion and the 15x All-Star Kevin Garnett. KG recently spilled the beans in an interview.

Kobe Bryant’s disappearance was apparently a blessing in disguise for Kevin Garnett

In the latest episode of Cold as Balls, Garnett sat down with host Kevin Hart for a chat and talked about a plethora of topics. During the chat session, KG revealed that after becoming the MVP in 2004 he wanted to get a supporting cast like the one Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal and Glen Rice had. Moreover, he added that Tyron Lue and Chauncey Billups suggested? to The Big Ticket that he should?look for a new challenge in the league so that he could achieve what he wants.

Subsequently added, “And that’s when I start taking steps to be able to see what my future going to be like…That’s when I called Kobe[Bryant] and Kobe was in China. He was in China like for a month and a half doing a bunch of…And then he won’t picking up that line and none of that.”?

The now 46-year-old further added that he kept thinking no one would be a better guard and wing than Ray Allen and Paul Pierce in the league with whom he could play after they went to the Celtics. The 2008 champion finished by saying, “So I made the decision, I say, ‘I’m going to Boston’, told my wife, and then announced and the rest is history.”?

As the Lakers legend didn’t pick up his phone, the 2004 MVP eventually realized who he could play with. Then he got to know about Allen and Pierce joining the Celtics, so he didn’t waste any time and immediately decided to join them in Boston. This decision changed his life as he went on to win his only championship for the first time after playing for 13 years in the league.

KG opened up about how Bryant’s death helped him to mend his relationship with Ray Allen

Garnett fell out with Allen as soon as he joined the Miami Heat in 2012. However, The Big Ticket eventually mended his relationship with his former teammate. In the aforementioned chat session, he disclosed that Bryant’s death inspired him to end the feud with the two-time champion. The 2008 NBA champion said, “The passing of Kobe and all of us getting older helped me understand that life is not given to none of us. It would have f**ked with me if something were to happen to Ray, and I didn’t get a chance to amend this.”
