Once the Nets welcomed Blake Griffin and LaMarcus Aldridge, the pressure was on the Lakers to make their move. They responded with the signing of Andre Drummond and further cemented their claim in the championship conversation.
These new signings in the big markets of the NBA might be brutal on the small-scale teams, but it is what it is. With Andre Drummond on the roster, the Lakers have decreased the talent gap that was bothering them for quite a while.

Andre Drummond clarified his championship goals as he denied the Celtics and other possible offers to accept the one from the Lakers. He is a man on the mission and that aligns perfectly with the ambitions of LeBron James and his Lakers.
In a recent interview, the Big Penguin expressed how he envisions himself in the current roster. The star center revealed, “For me, I’m just here to help in any capacity. I’m not here to do anything besides win, so I think playing w/ those guys can really benefit my game.”
Andre Drummond on meshing w/ AD/LeBron: "For me, I'm just here to help in any capacity. I'm not here to do anything besides win, so I think playing w/ those guys can really benefit my game. Be able to allow them to play their game & have a 3rd person to cause havoc in the paint."

The fact that Drummond sees himself as the third person to help the star duo takes a lot of burden off Frank Vogel. It has been more than two years, a forgetful 2018-19, a championship run, and half a season since the Lakers had been trying to find that third option. They will not mind benching Marc Gasol and place their bets on the new signing for the remaining season. Andre will most likely play the role that Dwight Howard did the last year.

Andre is the fourth player on the Lakers’ current roster who is 27 years old, and there are another three who are 28. For sure, he will soon become an unrestricted free agent and there is no guarantee he will still be a Laker after this season. But if the chemistry matches, there is no reason why he will want to leave Bron and AD, and this makes him a great future prospect.
Andre is also a two-way center who has been the rebounding leader in the league for quite some time. His defensive rebounding with an average scoring of 17+ points is a dream combination that can help the unit. This injury reinforcement for the Lakers can go distances when the star duo joins and the Lakers further solidify their defensive strength.

All in all, this is a welcome move and the 30-win Lakers will now see a better regular-season with a surety.
