24-year-old Rui Hachimura was recently acquired by Shaquille O’Neal’s former team, the Los Angeles Lakers. Drafted in 2019, Hachimura played for the Washington Wizards before being traded to the purple and gold in exchange for Kendrick Nunn and three second-round picks.

The bus driver comment was initially made by NBA analyst Charles Barkley while talking about the Golden State Warriors 2022 championship title and Kevin Durant’s move to the Brooklyn Nets. During an interview on ESPN’s “Get Up!” Barkley stated that Durant would never gain their respect until he led a team to victory.

“Before KD gets that great respect from all the old heads, he’s gonna have to win a championship as a bus driver. Listen, he join that team that already won a championship so…no disrespect, that’s just a fact.
