There have been a lot of what-ifs in the league with career-ending injuries. Believing reports coming in about the former Los Angeles Lakers star Lonzo Ball, he might float in the same boat. Having spent a significant part of his career playing with LeBron James, Ball was touted to be the next big thing coming into the league in a few years’ time. However, he has been very unlucky with injuries.

Just months after James potentially hinted at retirement, Ball’s career in the NBA has taken a major hit. The latest news by a Chicago Bulls executive has left NBA fans on Instagram worried about Ball.

Lonzo Ball was the 2nd overall pick in the 1st round during the 2017 NBA draft. Although he showed great potential, Ball really hasn’t lived up to all the hype.

Ball last played during the 2021-22 NBA season and he missed the entirety of last season because of a major injury to his left knee. In fact, he has already undergone three surgeries after playing his last game on the 14th of January, 2022.

“Our expectation is that he’s not coming back next season”, said Arturas Karnisovas, the Chicago Bulls vice president.

Karnisovas also revealed that although the Bulls hope for Ball to come back, they enter the offseason not looking forward to his services during the 2023-24 season.

Before his injury, Ball built good chemistry with Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan on the court. This worrying piece of news comes just a few weeks after his former teammate, LeBron James, also dropped a major bombshell.

The Denver Nuggets swept the Lakers 4-0 in the Western Conference. Following this heartbreaking loss, the four-time NBA champion hinted at potentially ending his career.

When asked about whether he would walk away from playing, “I got to think about it”, replied James. This naturally sent a huge shockwave across social media platforms.

Some fans are really hoping for his comeback, while others are just sad.
