It seems as if the Los Angeles Lakers are cursed this season due to constant nagging injuries. After dealing with injuries to Anthony Davis for the first half of the season, the injury bug is back at it again. This time biting Lakers’ point guard D’Angelo Russell, the latest addition to the Lakers’ roster. And fans are wondering what will it take for the Lakers to lift this injury curse this season.

During their latest matchup against the Golden State Warriors, Lakers’ point guard D’Angelo Russell went back to the locker room with an injury to his ankle. According to Lakers beat reporter Mike Trudell, “D’Angelo Russell is out for the rest of the game due to a right ankle sprain.”

This surely is disappointing news for Lakers fans as they have been dealing with injuries to their star players all season. During the second quarter of the game, Russell ended up injuring his ankle while inbounding the ball.

D’Lo accidentally stepped on Donte DiVincenzo’s foot and twisted his ankle, hitting the floor immediately. This has led fans to wonder what will it take for the Lakers to avoid such injuries in the future.

An update on D’Angelo Russell’s injury

It definitely seems true that the Lakers seem to be cursed this season. The team is in the 13th position in the Western Conference with a 27-32 overall season record. And the only thing holding back the Lakers’ franchise from its full potential is their star players missing out on games due to injury.

Anthony Davis got the worst of the injury bug, going down multiple times during the first half of the season. It reached such a point that fans openly mocked Davis for being so injury prone all the time. Even LeBron James and former Laker Russell Westbrook paid their dues in terms of missing time due to injury.

As for D’Angelo Russell, according to a report by TNT NBA Insider Chris Haynes, X-rays came back negative on his injury. He will not require an MRI, and the Lakers don’t consider it a serious injury. He’s day-to-day. So, that’s some good news for Lakers fans after all.
