For over a season, Russell Westbrook has been blamed for the Lakers’ poor last season. This off-season saw a change in the coaching of Frank Vogel. Stephon Marbury, who was once an NBA All-Star, has different opinions on why the Lakers performed poorly. He takes the burden off Russell Westbrook and puts LeBron James in the spotlight. According to Stephon, Anthony Davis and LeBron James must take ownership of Westbrook’s underwhelming season and the Lakers’ lackluster season.

Stephon once called out LeBron James for not being near Michael Jordan as an NBA player. He praised Jordan’s otherworldly gameplay and portrayed LeBron as part of the debate with Kobe Bryant, but was adamant about Jordan being the GOAT. According to Stephon, Bron is an amazing player, but Jordan is untouchable in the debate.

As far as the Los Angeles Lakers go, he called out LeBron James and Anthony Davis for not allowing Westbrook to do what he does best and expecting anything but what he has to offer. He questioned LeBron’s ability to make an adjustment and spoke about how a smart basketball player like LeBron could not foresee how Westbrook would fit into the roster. Russel Westbrook had his worst season statistically since his rookie year with the Lakers. Anthony Davis faced another injury-prone season as LeBron failed to make the play-off for the second time in a Laker jersey.

Stephon Marbury puts pressure on LeBron James and Anthony Davis

Marbury went all out and blasted LeBron James and Anthony Davis. He spoke about relieving Russ from the blame.

 

Stephon said, “LeBron and Davis, them guys know what Russell Westbrook was before he got here. You can’t be that smart of a basketball player and not know who you’re getting, who you’re going to be playing with. Who’s making the adjustment? It can’t be blamed on Russell Westbrook.”

Westbrook has always been a poor three-point shooter, his overall points per game fell down drastically, but his playmaking was still intact this season with the Lakers.

Marbury compares LeBron and Michael Jordan

Marbury gave his two cents on the GOAT debate and picked none other than Michael Jordan as his favorite.

He said, “People Wanna rank Jordan? Jordan should not even be ranked. It should be Kobe, then LeBron. Then you can pick. There is no comparison, man. It’s different would. I don’t know why Jordan’s name is even mentioned in the Convo. LeBron is great. Amazing. But Jordan is not from Earth. It’s just different. It’ll be insightful when (Last Dance) drops.”

Regardless of what happens with the Lakers next season, one cannot rule out LeBron James and the Lakers.
