It was only last season when the Warriors reminded fans of their dominance at the Chase Center. The defending champions lost just one game at home en route to the championship. The trend continued in this year’s regular season. In tonight’s battle, they were the veterans, the experienced side. The Warriors had a 3-2 lead playing at home. This was to be the game where the reigning champion close it out.

Magic certainly thought so too. He was confident Stephen Curry and the Warriors would close out the series in San Francisco. “After tonight, this Series is over. There is no way the Kings will beat the Warriors in San Francisco at home!” tweeted the five-time champion after the Kings’ Game 5 loss.

However, Sacramento had other plans. They fended off Chase Center’s loud roar and reduced it to a defeated silence. The fans couldn’t believe what they were witnessing. The mighty Warriors fell 118-99 in their very own kingdom in a potential closeout game.

It was surely a sight Magic Johnson didn’t expect. “I didn’t see this one coming!,” said the NBA Hall of Famer. He was one of the many stunned. But as a basketball fan, he gave the Kings their props.

“I can admit when I’m wrong… The Sacramento Kings blew out the Warriors at home in San Francisco! What a great team effort by the Kings,” wrote Magic Johnson.

And De’Aaron Fox and Co really did put on a clinic. Five players scored in double digits. Once again, the Kentucky duo, Malik Monk and Fox, broke through the Warriors. They combined to score 54 points in the blowout Game 6 win. Their fast pace and second-chance opportunities stunned the Warriors.

Not only did the Kings prove Johnson wrong, but it seems they now have him on their side. Predicting the outcome of Game 7, Johnson feels tonight’s embarrassing loss is one the Bay can’t come back from.

At the end of the game, an upset Stephen Curry covered his face with a towel. It was as if he knew they had lost a golden chance to close out the series. And it wasn’t just him. Even the fans couldn’t believe the outcome of the game. Some blamed the Warriors’ poor intensity for the loss.

This contest now awaits one final chapter. Game 7 in Sacramento will determine who moves on and who goes home. The Sacramento Kings will look to continue their game plan: attack with all they have.

The Warriors have been in unfavorable settings before. Experience plays to their advantage. However, it’s never easy to get a win on the road, especially for the Warriors, who lost 30 road games in the regular season.
