Caleb Plant had some inspiration in his corner
Alvarez already had WBO, WBA, and WBC belts in his pocket. And now, he has added Plant’s IBF title to his collection of achievements as well. Yet, Caleb still garnered some positive light when he gave a tribute to Michael Jordan during his bout. As per Nice Kicks, a sneakers community, he wore Jordan’s “custom-made Air Jordan 1 modeled after the modified AJ 1.”
These are the same sneakers Jordan wore after his horrific foot injury in 1986 that forced him to sit out of games for 6 weeks. The post also revealed, “The shoe was made to symbolize Caleb Plant’s warrior spirit…”

What happened to Michael Jordan in 1986?
The 1985-86 NBA campaign had just kicked off, with the third game having the Golden State Warriors and the Chicago Bulls. However, that was the end of most of MJ’s season, who went for a lob and ended up breaking his left foot while landing flat-footed on the hardwood floor.
He sat out of 64 games and was highly frustrated because he couldn’t do anything. However, Jordan being Jordan, somehow convinced the organization to let him go to UNC for rehab. But clearly, a lot more than rehab went down there. Without permission, he played five-on-five ball there, which could have potentially put his health in jeopardy.

When Jordan fought his way back to play in that season itself, it was only for a couple of minutes and a few games. In fact, he only played 7 minutes in each half, only to finally get back into his form and eventually lead the Bulls to the postseason.
His next best performance after that came against the Celtics in the first round, Game 2. The iconic baller ended up finishing the night with 63 points, while 19 of them came just from the free-throw line. Fans were awestruck.
