The Iowa Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark emerged as the find of March Madness this season. While the majority of the hoops community rooted for Clark to fire in the finals, things didn’t go in her favor. Amid multiple controversial calls, the Hawkeyes succumbed to a heartbreaking loss against the LSU Tigers. Moreover, the teary-eyed rising star broke down in front of the press after the game, talking about her legacy from this point forward.

NBA legends and analysts from all over the country sang praise for Iowa’s rising star. The Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson tweeted an outstanding stat about Clark after her thunderous 41-point performance in the Elite Eight. Even though she shouldered her side with 30 points in the final, she couldn’t take them past LSU’s dominating display.

After the frustrating defeat, the Hawkeyes’ Monica Czinano and Caitlin Clark addressed the press. One of the reporters asked the players to speak about the impact Clark had left on the young kids with her consistent performance. While Czinano appreciated her teammate for her performance, Clark had something emotional to deliver to her fans. She said, “I want my legacy to be the impact that I can have on young kids and the people in the state of Iowa.” She further expressed her contentment for bringing joy into the lives of people with her games. Clark also added, “I was just that young girl, so all you have to do is dream and you can be in moments like this.”

Despite LSU’s victory, everyone’s attention turned toward the harsh officiating during the game.

In the third quarter of the game, Clark received a controversial technical foul, and social media was all over it.

Along with the tech, she also received four foul calls. She played the fourth quarter at the risk of getting ejected. However, she didn’t draw any fouls after that.

Eyebrows raised at the officials

Apart from the controversial tech, a lot of fans had issues with the officiating throughout the game. LSU’s head coach, Kim Mulkey, constantly intervened in the game. Moreover, she pushed one of the refs in the process. After all these antics, the refs failed to take any action. However, the game went in favor of LSU as they notched a comfortable 85-102 victory.
