Way before the Draft Lottery, in every mock draft, Cade Cunningham is listed as the No. 1 overall pick. And with the Detroit Pistons holding that pick, he is likely to land up with them. Even though Jalen Green is giving him some competition for the Pistons, Cunningham has shown that he only has eyes for them. In fact, he only worked out for them as well. While this will remain a mystery until the official announcement, Cade knows that his ‘Welcome to the NBA’ moment will be playing against LeBron James.

Expectations from Cade Cunningham are sky-high because of his extremely successful lone year at Oklahoma State University. Not only did he average an incredible 20.1 points per game, 6.2 rebounds per game, and 3.5 assists per game, but was also the Big 12 Player of the Year. An honor that he took home with three other freshmen.

With the draft night moments away, Cade Cunningham was asked playing against whom will he consider his ‘Welcome to the NBA moment’. After some thought, he took the Los Angeles Lakers‘ LeBron James’ name.

He explained, “LeBron James, just because, I mean he got a ‘Space Jam’ movie now, so, I mean, that’s ‘Space Jam’. LeBron has been someone I’ve been watching growing up, a lot of inspiration for me. He’s been to the Finals pretty much every year I can remember. To be on the court with him, that’s gonna be special for sure. But definitely good to be able to see where I’m at.”

Well, who wouldn’t be thrilled to play against the NBA’s greatest, right?

Like the Detroit Pistons, the Houston Rockets have been down in the dumps for quite a few seasons now. And now that James Harden isn’t there, the Rockets are looking to rebuild. What better way to do it than to bring in one of the best of the draft class.

While Cade Cunningham is the most obvious choice for both teams, the Pistons might be divided between him and Jalen Green. Apparently, Green really impressed them during the workout. However, wherever Cade lands, he is expected to make a big impact. So, either way, any team would be lucky to have him.
