In the 1992 NBA draft, the Orlando Magic selected Shaq as the number one overall pick. Soon after, the Big Diesel began to dominate the paint at an unprecedented level, in a way that would terrorize defenses for years to come. Following his stint as the centerpiece of the Magic organization, Shaq would move to LA on a staggering seven-year $120 million deal in 1996.

The 7′ giant would immediately make the Los Angeles Lakers his home and continue to prosper. This rare photo is from 1997, one year after Shaq signed for the Lakers.

As a matter of fact, the photo was taken at MTV Rock ‘n Jock basketball in 1997. Both Shaq and Rhymes look filled with energy and passion.
In other words, they seem to be enjoying themselves and their broad smiles display the rapport between them. With his 7′ stature, the Lakers legend is obviously towering over the 6’ tall rapper. But their impeccable chemistry appears to bridge the disparity in their heights.
As we all know, Shaq is not only a massive hip-hop aficionado, but he’s a rapper himself. In fact, his studio album ‘You Can’t Stop the Reign’ featured legendary artists like Biggie Smalls, Nas and Jay-Z. Soon after, the ‘Touch It’ emcee asked to stop the music and confronted the lady. He even told the lady’s boyfriend to make sure that his partner is not acting inappropriately. The veteran artist seemed visibly disturbed by the lady’s actions.
