There have been a number of great players who have dominated the league during their time. However, there is only a handful who left a mark on future generations, like Kobe Bryant. What set The Mamba apart from the rest of the players during his time in the league was his mentality. The five-time NBA champion also demanded a lot from his teammates, and when they failed to deliver up to expectations, he was harsh with them.
Matt Barnes, who has played with Kobe, recently joined The Rich Eisen Show and talked about his experience of playing with The Mamba. Interestingly, he also revealed details about the treatment meted out to the teammates who Bryant didn’t particularly like or trust.

Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant was the definition of grit and determination. There have been numerous stories by NBA legends of both the past and present who talk about The Mamba’s discipline.
Recently, Matt Barnes chimed into the Chris Paul and Kawhi Leonard incident which has taken the league by storm. While giving his insights, the former NBA champion talked about how Bryant sometimes meted out the silent treatment to his teammates.
In case the five-time NBA champion fell out with someone from within the team, he would give them the ‘Mamba stare’. Moreover, it seems he wouldn’t utter a word during this time.
Barnes said, “You know about the mamba stare, you know what I mean? Just that you know you’ll he’ll burn a hole through you with his eyes.”

Interestingly, it seems Barnes didn’t have to deal with Kobe’s silent treatment or the Mamba stare. Although he once tried to scare Kobe, Barnes was still in The Mamba’s good books.

Matt Barnes is best remembered by fans for one of the most iconic moments in NBA history. And no, it is not his 2017 NBA championship triumph with the Golden State Warriors.

Back in 2010, the Lakers took on the Orlando Magic for a regular season game. When the ball went out of play, Barnes infamously faked a pass in order to make Kobe flinch. However, Bryant was unfazed, which left fans around the world dumbfounded. This was the perfect example of his immense dedication and focus.
Interestingly, Barnes joined the Lakers following this season and would spend two seasons with the Lake Show before joining the Clippers.
