With so much wealth at his helm, Michael Jordan has spent some amount in real estate. He currently resides in his Jupiter home in Florida. However, Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai recently bought a $188 million penthouse in New York, which transcends even Jordan’s Florida home.

Joe Tsai has been in the news lately due to the Kyrie Irving situation. However, he is again on the headlines after purchasing billionaire Dan Och’s penthouse in New York. Blue Pool Capital, an investment firm with a portion of Alibaba Group Holding Ltd, managed to buy the penthouse for $188 million.

Michael Jordan’s 28,000 square-foot Florida abode has been home to the Jordan family since 2013. But when compared to Joe Tsai’s NY penthouse, the cost involved is peanuts.

Joe Tsai’s NY penthouse is 14 times costlier than Michael Jordan’s Florida abode

The New York penthouse has cost Joe Tsai a whopping $188 million. But Michael Jordan’s Florida abode reportedly cost him a total of $12.4 million. The land of the house cost MJ $4.8 million and the construction cost him $7.6 million. Joe Tsai’s penthouse is more than 14-time the amount Jordan spent for his house in Florida.

The penthouse, now owned by Joe Tsai, located at 220 Central Park South, is part of the most successful residential developments in the neighbourhood. Tsai is worth $7.4 billion and also owns a 49% stake in the Brooklyn Nets. The exorbitant price he has spent on his NYC penthouse is also a result of the sky-high cost of New York real estate. Hence, the disparity with Jordan’s Florida property.

Michael Jordan, owner of the Charlotte Hornets, has two other properties in the United States: in North Carolina and Chicago. Jordan owns the Hornets and hence has a house in North Carolina to keep him close to the team. Meanwhile, his Chicago home has been listed for sale for the past decade.
