In a recent podcast episode of The Steam Room podcast, Charles Barkley dismissed Candice Parker’s view on the Nets’ performance. Ernie Johnson, the host asked Parker to pick the current season’s champion. The WNBA legend picked the Brooklyn Nets despite KD’s absence as she felt the team has a balanced roster to fill KD’s vacancy. She admitted that the Nets are much weaker in KD’s absence. However, Parker added, “I wouldn’t want to face Brooklyn in a seven-game series“. She further said that the Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks wouldn’t win the Eastern Conference Finals.

Following Parker’s statement, Barkley continued with his opinion. He picked the Denver Nuggets as his favorites to win the championship but he also had a strong take on the Nets after KD’s injury. He said, “Brooklyn, they’re gonna drop like a rock the next month.” He further said that the Nets wouldn’t win games without the slim reaper. Chuck further expressed the reason for his statement, he said, “He [Kevin Durant] made up for the lack of size because he’s so great.”
