Recently, fans of Stephen Curry and Kyrie Irving jumped into an instant online debate based on the comments made by the latter. The brief exchange that led to the debate occurred on the night the Brooklyn Nets played the Golden State Warriors. The Nets, led by Kevin Durant, defeated the reigning champions by 143-113. While Irving had to be sidelined due to injury, he spared a few seconds to reply to a courtside fan who made a comment about Steph.
The clip of the brief exchange went online and immediately garnered fans’ attention. Debate arose when half the NBA fans supported Irving’s claims and the other half felt it was necessary to remind Irving he was wrong.

Wednesday night’s game had several players missing from both sides. While Kyrie Irving had to sit out due to calf tightness, Stephen Curry missed it due to a shoulder injury. In the short clip, Irving was greeting Kevin Durant on the sideline when a fan’s statement caught his attention. The fan, who seemed like a Golden State Warriors supporter, yelled at Irving amidst the crowd.
He said, “Let’s see what happens when Steph plays.”
In response, Irving said, “It don’t matter cause he gotta guard me and I gotta guard him. So it’s even.”

Of course, Irving’s reply was not well-received by many. Shortly after the video spread online, Warriors fans began bashing the 2016 NBA champ. One of the most stated reasons was that former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate LeBron James had to carry Irving. Notably, Irving won his first and only championship when he was a Cavs player alongside King James. A similar argument was also made about KD being carried by Steph.
As for the Nets fans, they argued Irving was not an even match to Steph. Some also pointed out that Irving dominated Curry during the 2016 NBA finals. Given that fan debates are a never-ending phenom, one can just go through some of the comments.
