Dwight Howard recently made his overseas debut with his new team, the Taoyuan Leopards in Taiwan. The 36-year-old scored 38 points and registered 25 rebounds and 9 assists. He was pivotal in bringing down the 21-point deficit and led his team to victory. His performance was truly one of a kind and the NBA world was left in disbelief.

With his individual performance, Howard did a repeat of 2016, the only other time he recorded 35 points in a game.

Fans went gaga over the former Los Angeles Lakers center who has shown tremendous expansion in his game. One user even compared him to NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain, undoubtedly one of the greatest basketball players of all time. Chamberlain was known for his shooting sprees. He would usually average more than 40 points in a game. And of course, who can forget that game where Wilt Chamberlain dominated the court with 100 points?

Howard spoke to the media after the game and admitted it was his first game after a long hiatus. He extended his gratitude to his new coach and teammates.

The eight-time NBA All-Star played for seven different teams in the NBA and has clocked in 18 years in the league till now. Howard played for the Lakers, where he won his maiden NBA title in 2020.

Is a comeback to the NBA on the cards?

Howard announced that he would be joining the team in Taiwan a few weeks back. He wrote, “I’m ready to enjoy life by playing the sport I love…”

If he continues this winning streak, a spot may just open up for Dwight Howard. He had also told Fox Sports in October that he would love to play season 19 in the NBA. Howard also said that he would love to join the Golden State Warriors.

The T1 league is undoubtedly different from the NBA. But what Howard showed on the court was arguably the version that the NBA would have wanted, and in some ways thirsted for.

Earlier this month, Dwight Howard revealed that he had initially gone to the Brooklyn Nets as a free agent. Notably, they reportedly turned him down because they wanted a player who could shoot.
