The NBA world is a very interesting place, full of ups and downs and intriguing plot twists. The league sees its fair share of rumors, controversies, criticisms, shockers and whatnot. These situations don’t revolve around the players and franchises all the time, but sometimes engulfs the top executives as well. While such situations are rare, certain similar rumors around the league have stunned the whole NBA world recently.
Players, coaches and franchises have always been caught up in this pool of criticism floating through the league. Even commissioner, Adam Silver, hasn’t been immune to criticism over the years despite his brilliant administrative success. Now, the NBA boss is in the headlines once again for completely different reasons.
Silver joined the league in 1992 and in 2006, he became the chief operating officer and deputy commissioner under the then commissioner, David Stern. After serving 8 years under Stern, Silver went on to become the commissioner after Stern stepped down in 2014. During his time as the commissioner, Silver has surely taken the NBA to new heights.

The league has thrived under Silver for sure. The 60-year-old has implemented new rules like the play-in tournament which has definitely made the NBA more interesting and competitive. During his tenure, Silver safely navigated the NBA through the COVID-19 pandemic phase, successfully executing the unprecedented idea of the NBA Orlando bubble.
NBA commissioner Adam silver associated with Disney in new rumors
It is thus clear that Silver’s leadership skills have carved his name in the corporate world. Under Silver’s leadership, the NBA has certainly done well. Considering his period at the NBA, Silver is certainly a big name in the business world now. And therefore, new opportunities have come calling.
While Silver’s current contract at the NBA runs out in 2024, a big rumor around his future has surfaced. The rumor involves the $184.76 Billion Company, Disney. There have been reports that the NBA commissioner is in the mix to become the next Disney CEO.

According to a report by Charles Gasparino of Fox Business, Silver has been rumored to be on the shortlist to replace Bob Iger as the CEO of Disney. However, the NBA boss is not alone on the list. The list includes the likes of Kevin Mayer and Dana Walden. While there are other candidates as well, NBA fans will certainly be keeping a close eye on what Silver’s future holds.

ESPN has been the major partner for broadcasting games. However, on the brighter side, Disney owns the ESPN.
