WNBA Star Brittney Griner was among the many athletes who took a knee during the national anthem to protest against police brutality. And despite the US government trying to get her back after her detention in Russia, several people have opposed it due to her disrespecting the national flag. Meanwhile, a conservative critic has recently expressed his opinion that LeBron James should rethink his ‘Cowboys’ stance after Griner’s arrest.

Brittney Griner was arrested over 240 days ago. For the past few months, the US government has been going its best to get her back. Meanwhile, many Americans have said that she deserves her exile because she has been convicted of her crime. Moreover, she had kneeled in protest during the national anthem. Therefore, America shouldn’t go out of its way to rescue a citizen who has refused in the past to pay homage to the Star Spangled Banner.

Even NBA players have kneeled during the national anthem. And they did it almost every game in the NBA bubble. That included LeBron James, who has been very outspoken about social issues. But his stance on the Dallas Cowboys has been criticized by a conservative critic.

LeBron James stopped supporting the Cowboys after they didn’t allow kneeling

Athletes kneeling during the national anthem started in the NFL. Several players got into trouble with the league for the controversial gesture. But one of the most popular teams, the Dallas Cowboys, made it clear that they would not stand any of their players disrespecting the national flag and anthem.

And LeBron, who used to be a Cowboys fan, did not agree with that. He was recently on Instagram live with his friend Maverick Carter. And Carter asked him if he still supported the Cowboys. LeBron said, “Nah man, I had to sit out on the Cowboys, man. It just a lot of things that [were] going on when guys were kneeling and guys were having freedom of speech.

“You know, a lot of people in the front office and a lot of people that ran the organization was like, ‘If you do that around here, you won’t ever play for this franchise again.’ And I just didn’t think that was appropriate,” he added.

Meanwhile, his comments attracted the attention of conservative commentator Michael Knowles. He did not like his comments about the Cowboys and he criticized him on his Facebook page. He wrote, “You would think Brittney Griner’s detainment would have him reconsider his views.”

Knowles wanted to stress the fact that LeBron and Griner are protesting a nation that protects the liberty of its citizens. Therefore, detention in a foreign rogue state would compel protesting Americans to appreciate the freedom in their country more.
