WNBA star Brittney Griner has some of the most noticeable tattoos in basketball. Ever since her days in college, Griner developed a love for the ink and has had multiple on her body.

While she is quite proud of her tattoos, it has not always been like this. During her days of representing the Baylor basketball team, people ridiculed Brittney for her tattoos.

Moreover, officials had once asked her to wear long sleeves under her jersey to hide her tattoos. Her former teammate expressed her opinion on the situation. Brooklyn Pope said, “Brittney couldn’t show those tattoos or talk openly because it was Baylor.”

Interestingly enough, conversations with her former teammates revealed that there were other gay athletes on the team. Griner’s former teammate said, “There were others. Kim always said all of it would look bad for recruiting.” The University’s stance on sensitive issues such as these frustrated Griner.

Unlike others, Griner was very open about her sexuality and her likenesses. She has talked on multiple occasions about why she is open about her sexuality and how she aspires to be a role model for people across the world.

Brittney Griner was one of the best prospects coming out of her college. Born in Houston, Texas, she represented Baylor university.

She played for the Baylor Lady Bears in the NCAA tournament and asserted her dominance in the highly coveted tournament. Blessed with a physicality like no other, she stands at 6-foot-9 inches tall.

Griner lead her college team to NCAA success in 2012 and made headlines as she became the only player to make it to the National team while still in college.

Thanks to her exploits in college, she was already one of the biggest names entering the WNBA draft even before her debut. The Phoenix Mercury drafted her as the number 1 overall pick and she has represented that team in her 9 seasons in the league.
