Is Kevin Durant prepared for a homecoming? Some fans think so. A new team has given its name to the trade sweepstakes and its name is the Washington Wizards. Durant is a big name any franchise wants to attach its name to. Washington wants to do the same. They are, after all, his local team.

Durant was born and raised in the capital city of Washington D.C. The team and its fans will be welcoming him with open arms. Journalist Sam Amico broke this news, and it has left Wizards fans excited but other fans scratching their heads. They are asking what will be the trade package? What do the Wizards have?

It is, indeed, a real head-scratcher if this is true. Washington has just locked in star player Bradley Beal to a five-year maximum deal of $251 million. The Nets want an All-Star along with a few other players and draft picks. Is there anybody else other than Beal that can fill the spot?

Washington needs to collaborate with another team to get Durant. There aren’t many teams in the NBA right now, that can single-handedly trade for the former league MVP. Wizards don’t seem to have the required assets to put in the trade to get him.

If Kevin Durant ends up coming to the Wizards, he will not be the only Thunder alumna to play for the team. Lakers guard Russell Westbrook played for this team last year. He didn’t have too bad of a season with the Wizards. In 2020, he was traded by the Houston Rockets for John Wall and a 2023 lottery-protected first-round draft pick.

He captured the NBA assists title during his time with the Wizards as he averaged 11.7 per game. Westbrook also scored 22.2 points and had 11.5 rebounds per game as well. He took them to the playoffs, where lost by five to the 76ers.
